Overview
The system supports two types of surveys:
Logical Branched Surveys
Basic Surveys
Both survey types can be used with any canvassing tool, but they function differently.
Survey Types
Logical Branched Surveys
Logical Branched Surveys adjust the next question based on the respondent’s answer.
Questions follow a branching structure.
Best suited for electronic canvassing tools.
When used with paper lists:
Questions appear in segment order.
Script elements are not printed.
Use Logical Branched Surveys when you need dynamic question flow.
Basic Surveys
Basic Surveys use the same questions in the same order for every respondent.
No branching logic.
No script elements.
Works consistently for paper and electronic canvassing.
Use Basic Surveys when you need a fixed question order.
Important Notes
Surveys can be reused multiple times.
You can modify existing surveys if needed.
Removing questions may affect data entry.
Only remove survey elements that are no longer in use.
Non-Contact Code Sets are automatically added during list generation (if enabled) and do not need to be added to surveys manually.
Access the Surveys Tab
Open the navigation menu.
Click Admin.
Select Flags & Surveys.
Click the Surveys sub-tab.
Common Issues and Solutions
Problem: My survey script is not printing on paper lists.
Solution: Script elements from Logical Branched Surveys do not print on paper outputs.
Problem: My questions are not branching correctly.
Solution: Confirm you are using a Logical Branched Survey and that branching logic is configured properly.
Problem: Non-contact codes are missing.
Solution: Non-contact codes are automatically added at list generation if enabled.
